We have just sent Sleeping In Toronto by Canadian Jim Bryson to radio, let us introduce you to him. As an appetizer, it's up on our Myspace www.myspace.com/independentrecordsireland The common wisdom may be that the music business is in the tank, CD sales are down and everyone wants their music for nothing. However every now and again we come across a songwriter and throw caution to the wind as there’s someone out there who just hadn’t got the audience they deserve. Jim Bryson from Canada is one of these and to hell or Connaught, Independent Records is going to release his album and try and make him a little more famous (of all the people we’ve meet, Jim deserves most to be famous.....or possibly renamed Seamus). Independent Records has always prided itself on bringing the Irish public hitherto little known songwriters. From U.S. Tunesmiths like Joe Pernice to Josh Ritter and more homegrown gems like Mark Geary and Emmett Tinley, Jim Bryson in the latest Independent Records discovery. Found playing keyboards and guitars with fellow Canadian Kathleen Edwards, Jim has been though the record label merry go around in Canada but amazingly his tunes have barely found their way to this side of the planet. Well, Independent Records is going to attempt to change that. ‘Where The Bungalows Roam’ is preceded by the single ‘Sleeping In Toronto’ which is heading to radio stations now. Jim Bryson is from Canada's "small town" capital city, Ottawa. His has two critically acclaimed releases; 2000’s “The Occasionals” and 2003’s “The North Side Benches”, the latter of which appearing on many year-end “Best of” lists including that of Billboard’s Jason MacNeil and Americana UK’s Tim Ford.
