Submissions Policy
If you are interested in submitting music to Independent Records, please note the following;
Submissions
Independent Records licenses finished albums, you can send in demos but Independent Records does not offer recording budgets. Recording budget encompasses money to feed your caffeine, crack, bad artwork or hard drive habit.
Sending a finished album with a biography to 5/6 Lombard Street East, Dublin 2 is the best way of gaining our attention.
Independent Records likes American music (so shoot us) and always has, we like to hear from American artists, we like hearing from American labels, we like hearing about America and for the most part we like Americans. Independent Records understands it is currently fashionable to not like America. Independent Records has never understood fashion.
Since Independent Records is a VERY small label (about 5 foot 9), the chances of getting signed as a new artist from an unsolicited demo submission are very unlikely (okay, I’ll just say it, it’ll never happen). This is not to say that your music isn't fantastic and won’t go on to sell loads, it’s just that we might have to miss out on our share of the pie.
Independent likes and listen to lots of music (of all genres), We just can’t release most of it. Because of time and financial constraints, we are only able to release a few records a year and give them the care and attention they need.
For the same reason, we are unable to go for coffee, run down to your show or lay out a masterplan for nationwide domination free of charge and from the goodness of our hearts.
This does not mean that you should not be able to lay out your own masterplan and dominate the nation it just means we have boring things like accounts to do.
For the same reason, please do not turn up at the office unannounced bearing your demo. Please do not send either of your parents to do the same, please do not send a girlfriend, relative, household pet, courier or mate to do same. Clear enough?
Most of all if you are Italian and have a desire for Independent Records to make you as popular as Sting and Jon Bon Jovi (your biggest influences) then you are most definitely looking in the wrong place, try a TV programme, if that fails, please go home.
Please do not send us massive digital downloads unrequested (over 4MB). WE MAY RETURN THEM AND SEND ALL THE OTHER MASSIVE DIGITAL DOWNLOADS WE HAVE WITH THEM, ONE BY ONE, DAY BY DAY.
All of the above are based on experience, all of them mess up our working day and prevent us doing the things which help pay the rent, electricity bill, stationary bill and fulfill addictions for buying the likes of expensive herbal tea, Curb Your Enthusiasm, and anything with Johnny Cash (not voiced by an actor) , Bruce Springsteen, Low, M.Ward, Richard Hawley, Millie Jackson, David Soul and Jed Bartlett on it.
If Independent Records likes your music, we’ll get in touch, presuming of course, you’ve left contact details with your music.
If you’ve got this far and are still considering sending in music, then go right ahead.
Work Experience Letters
You can send in your work experience letter but it is unlikely we can offer you work experience (no space in the office or in our heads). We won’t be able to respond to each letter but good luck in your search.
