MARK GEARY TOUR
Fresh from recording his new album ‘Ghosts’ with David Odlum in Black Box
Studio’s in France, Mark Geary heads out around the country to give the songs
from his debut ‘33 1/3 Grand Street’ one last spin.
Although released in Ireland early in 2003, ’33 1/3 Grand Street’ gets a
belated U.K. release on the 14th June through Independent Records/Setanta with
the single ‘Suzanne’ going to U.K. radio in May. Mark’s next album
‘Ghosts’ will be released in Ireland on 27th August 2004 but before that he
heads out on another extensive tour of the U.S. in June.
Mark has also had songs on screen all over the place recently. His songs
‘South’ and ‘Songs My Mother Taught Me’ have been included in a U.S.
movie called ‘The Fittest’ directed by Jeff Crook (a darkly comic tale
of survival in suburbia. Freddy Grant desperately wants to have a child
but his defective sperm keeps him from getting his wife, Grace, pregnant. As his
infertility puts increasing strain on their marriage, Freddy strikes up an
affair with his coworker, Jill, who is involved in an on-again, off-again
relationship with Freddy's sadistic boss, Al. Insecurity and a biological
imperative lead to some bad choices and Freddy's world begins to unravel. )
It’s just debuted at the Vail Film Festival.
‘Adam & Eve’ has also been featured in ‘Surviving Eden’ (a
terrific, hilarious indictment of modern-day reality TV and the 15-minute
celebrities it creates and spits out) which debuted at the South By South West
film festival 2004. Writer/director Greg Pritican has taken the absurd
mockumentary styles of Woody Allen's ‘Take the Money and Run’, mixed in an
homage to Peter Sellers films, notably ‘Being There’ and the Clouseau/Cato
dynamic - and created a film that is outrageous, funny, and important as well.
Closer to home, the RTE’s The Big Bow Wow featured
‘Adam & Eve’ and ‘Gingerman’.
Special guest on these Irish dates will be Ann Scott.
