The Handsome Family prepare to leave their house yet again. This
involves conquering several phobias including but not limited to: fear of water,
tiny things, large dogs, small dogs, dogs with ESP, invisible dogs,
shape-shifting dogs, dogs who look like spiders, dogs who dance on two legs,
dogs pretending to be humans and then pretending to be spiders.
As always, Brett and Rennie Sparks have been active on this side of the veil and
beyond with constant wandering (in a field of clouds unsure of what is real and
what is a dream) that's promoting their recent album entitled "Singing Bones"
(out now on Independent Records). Their wandering ways include particapating in
a Leonard Cohen night with acts such as Nick Cave, Laurie Anderson and Rufus
Wainwright as well as playing festivals in Canada and Scandinava.
They also celebrate sixteen years of marriage and can be found playing on a
houseboat in the middle of a swamp in "Searching for the Wrong-Eyed Jesus", an
independent film about American music which also features Johnny Dowd, 16
Horsepower and Melissa Swingle among others.
Washing up from the depths of the Handsome Family deep sea laboratory where no
light has shone for many hundreds of years is Darrell Sparks (Brett's brother)
who will join the Handsome Family to play drums, guitar, bass and sing some
lovely harmonies.
